LEWISVILLE, Texas — Lewisville will start replacing the Lake Avalon Park boardwalk and bridge on Monday, Oct. 5. In Little Elm, Hill Lane traffic has already moved to a new pattern. The city said the Lake Avalon work swaps the existing boardwalk and bridge for a precast concrete system meant to give people a safer crossing that lasts longer. The job also adds a concrete patio, benches, and a guardrail on the island. Crews will start by mobilizing and tearing out the old structures. Parts of the park will close so the work zone stays clear. The city is telling visitors to follow the fences and closure signs and to stay out of restricted areas. PermaTrak is manufacturing the concrete pieces. After they are delivered, crews will set them and finish the site work. The city expects about 120 calendar days, not counting city holidays. Weather, site conditions, or other problems can change that schedule. The city said it will post an update if park access changes in a significant way. Lewisville City Council approved a construction contract with Fain Group LLC on May 4 for $866,165. A later change order of $38,926.25 added the patio, benches, and guardrail. That brings the construction cost to $905,091.25. The money comes from the city’s parks capital improvement program. Construction updates are planned through the City of Lewisville and Play Lewisville. On Hill Lane, the Town of Little Elm said traffic moved to phase 2 on Thursday, Sept. 17. Southbound traffic shifted to the opposite lane between French Settlement and Dickson Lane. Northbound traffic is not allowed on Hill Lane between Dickson Lane and French Settlement during this phase. The town is asking drivers to watch for workers and equipment, follow the signs, and leave extra time. The alert page is dated June 29. The phase change itself is Sept. 17. The town said the Hill Lane expansion will keep changing traffic as the work moves, including near Oak Grove Parkway and Eldorado Parkway. It said it will send an update if the schedule or the route changes. Lewisville’s notice is on the city website. Little Elm’s note is on the town’s civic alerts page.
