DENTON, Texas — Three Denton County-area school boards have facility and safety matters on late-October agendas. Aubrey ISD is set to consider furniture for a new elementary school, Ponder ISD will review a report on a second elementary campus, and Northwest ISD will weigh the first guaranteed maximum price for a central campus and stadium renovation.
Aubrey's Oct. 21 agenda lists possible use of SAFE grant funds, furniture for Elementary School No. 5 and technology purchases for Brockett, Monaco and West elementary schools and Aubrey High School. The board also scheduled a public hearing on its financial accountability rating and a discussion of existing debt. Aubrey's regular meeting is posted for 6:30 p.m. Oct. 21. The agenda calls for separate consideration of the grant funds, school furniture and technology purchases, so approval of one item would not establish approval of the others.
Ponder's Oct. 26 agenda includes a report tied to Elementary School No. 2, plus bond and construction updates. Trustees are also set to consider an agreement with the University of Texas at Austin for free cybersecurity tools and a shared special education services agreement with Krum ISD.
Northwest ISD's Oct. 26 agenda includes a districtwide intruder assessment report, a Fort Worth school resource officer agreement and the first price package for the Central Campus Master Plan and Texan Stadium renovation. Some Northwest ISD schools serve areas beyond Denton County, so residents should check district maps for the campuses relevant to them.
All three postings are agendas. The listed projects and agreements remain proposals until the boards act; final costs and decisions should be confirmed through district records.
